YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN SUPPLIES:
Supply rental is NOT available for this class. You must bring ALL your own paints,
brushes and other supplies for the class. Supplies are sold at Michaels and Hobby Lobby,and if you use a 40%-off coupon
published from those stores in the Sunday paper, you can purchase the more expensive items that way. Check your supply
list to make sure you have ALL the necessary paints, brushes, paper and other supplies shown below. There is no way to
buy any supplies once you get to class. If you don't bring all required supplies with you, you may not be able
to complete the painting.
Don’t wait until the day before class to buy your supplies. If you do, it’s likely you won’t
be able to find everything you need. You may need to go to more than one store to find all the supplies.

Winsor & Newton ARTISAN Water Mixable Oil Paint Colors:
French Ultramarine Blue
Phthalo Green
Alizarin Crimson
Cadmium Yellow
Light
Titanium White
Permanent Rose*
Cadmium Yellow Deep*
Burnt Sienna*
* These colors are not in the small kit that Michaels sells, but
they are needed for this painting. They can be purchased separately from the kit -- they cost about $7.49 each, but use your
40%-off coupons or watch for sales!
Required Brushes / Other Products
Good brushes at a reasonable cost are the Simply Simmons or Royal Soft Grip lines of brushes sold at Michaels and Hobby Lobby.
The following brushes are needed for class:
- 3/4" flat brush, synthetic hairs
- 1/2" flat brush, synthetic hairs
- Script Liner Brush --
any type will work
You will also need white bristle brushes for this painting:
- 3/4" or #10 Flat Bristle Brush (see photo at right)
- 1/2" or #6 Flat Bristle Brush
Other Supplies Needed:
- 12x16 canvas (11x14 size will also work)
- Artist's Tape or good quality Masking
Tape
- Graphite paper, 9x12 to trace the pattern (Mona Lisa brand at Michaels is a good one)
- Paper Towels (good quality, such as Viva
or Bounty)
- Plastic bag for trash
- Wet Ones or Baby Wipes – handy for cleaning clothes, brushes, hands
- Small margarine cup to hold water
This Beginners Set of Winsor & Newton ARTISAN Water Mixable Oils is sold at Michaels Arts & Crafts Stores. The retail
cost is about $28.00, but if you use a 40%-off coupon in the Sunday paper, it reduces the cost to $17.00. In addition to these
colors, you will also need Cadmium Yellow Deep, Permanent Rose and Burnt Sienna.
This painting is done with both acrylic and oil. The acrylic is used for the under-painting to speed drying time. I will provide the acrylic colors needed for a fee of $5.00.
