YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN SUPPLIES:
Supply rental is NOT available for this class. You must bring ALL your own paints,
brushes and other supplies for the class. Supplies are sold at Michaels and Hobby Lobby, and if you use a 40%-off coupon
published from those stores in the Sunday paper, you can purchase the more expensive items that way. Check your supply
list to make sure you have ALL the necessary paints, brushes, paper and other supplies shown below. There is no way to
buy any supplies once you get to class. If you don't bring all required supplies with you, you may not be able
to complete the painting.
Don’t wait until the day before class to buy your supplies. If you do, it’s likely you won’t
be able to find everything you need. You may need to go to more than one store to find all the supplies.
Best Western Mezona Inn
Conference Room #166
250 W. Main Street
Mesa, AZ 85201
(in historic Downtown Mesa,
one block east of
Country Club Drive)
Paper: You can buy a pad of Strathmore Watercolor Paper (Cold Press), 140 lb. weight, at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. Buy
the 9x12 size for $7.49.
Watercolor Paints come in two different forms:
- Cakes of color (like kids' watercolor paints), or tube colors, like oil paint.
- If you are new to watercolor painting, I recommend that you buy a good quality set of cake watercolors. Michaels sells Cotman
Compact Sets of 14 colors for $11.99 (made by Winsor & Newton). I have one of these sets for travel, and they work great.
If you use a 40%-off coupon, the cost is only $7.19. The good news about watercolors is that a little paint goes a long way.
Required Brushes / Other Products
Good brushes at a reasonable cost are the Simply Simmons or Royal Soft Grip lines of brushes sold at Michaels and Hobby Lobby.
The following brushes are needed for class:
- 3/4" flat brush, synthetic or natural hairs (you should have one of these if you take my
water mixable oil classes)
- Simply Simmons #10 Round Brush (cost is $2.99) -- sold at Michaels and Hobby Lobby
- Script Liner Brush --
any type will work
